THEME PARKS

Want to spend a day at Walt Disney World? EPCOT? Sea World or Universal Studios? No Problem! The Orlando theme parks are a just an hour away from this quiet home base.

Most of the driving is done by highway so it's a breeze to get there and back to the house after you are done riding all the rides you can handle!

If you are not sure which theme park will best suit your family needs, just ask! As a Florida native, I have been to all of the theme parks time and time again and can let you know what you may enjoy most or want to avoid. I also know a lot of the tricks to getting more out of your theme park exerperience that I am willing to share!

 

 

 



 


BEACHES

Whether you want to collect shells, surf, play in the surf or just watch the sunrise, Brevard County, where Melbourne is located, has plenty of beaches for you to choose from.

The county is 72 miles long and has beaches of all types from those that that are packed and host weekend bikini contests to those that are much less crowded where you can have some room to yourself.

Depending on the time of year you visit you may be able to watch sea turtles come ahore and lay their eggs or even see the babies hatching and making their way to the sea for the first time.




KENNEDY SPACE CENTER

The home of America's space program is within your reach when you stay at Casa Maya. Just 30 minutes from the house is the Kennedy Space Center and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Center.

Depending on when you visit you may have a chance to see a Space Shuttle or rocket launch. And a visit to the Visitor's Center is an experience the whole family will enjoy. Try it all out from the Imax movies to bus tours of the launch pads and even the Shuttle Launch Experience where you get to find outwhat it feels like to take off on your own shuttle mission!

 




 


ECO-TOURS & ADVENTURES

This area of the state is rich with wildlife and nature to see. From kayaking to airboat rides there are a number of ways to see the natural beauty of the area. You may even be able to set up a close encounter with some of the area's wildlife such as alligators, manatees and dolphin.

If controlled nature is more to your liking, the Brevard Zoo is just minutes away where you can feed giraffes, deer, emus and a number of tropical birds.


WICKHAM PARK

Just down the road from Casa Maya is a perfect location to take the family for a day of play. Wickham park is a 390+ acre park that offers a number of ammenities.

For family gatherings there are picnic tables and pavillions. A large playground is available for the younger children to burn some energy on. Looking to do a little exercise? There are exercise trails around the property as well as lakes that have swimming seasons. There are even archery areas, disc golf goals and a dog park for your pooch.

Fishing

Rivers, lakes and ocean abound around the Brevard County area. That means there are a lot of fish out there just waiting to be caught.

Sports

Space Coast Stadium was built in 1993 and is located just 10 minutes away from Casa Maya.

The stadium serves as the spring training facility for the Washington Nationals as well as the regular season facility for the Brevard County Manatees, the Florida State League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The stadium can seat up to 8,100 fans, with every seat providing a great view of the field. The home team is always in the first base dugout as the opposing team takes the dugout on third base.

The complex is one of the best MLB Spring Training Facilities in the Major Leagues! Space Coast Stadium is home to five full practice fields, two half fields and an award winning stadium diamond. Family nights, holiday spectaculars, and special events all happen here!
